Bitstream Inc has announced its plans to discontinue the free mobile service of the Bolt Browser. Reasons were economical difficulties associated with operating the Bolt Browser service. Bolt Browser is a mobile phone internet browser that compressess 90% of data thereby saving browsing tariffs. It enables users to view quality web pages on mobile phones with less data traffic.
Here is the message that was clearly displayed at the top of Bolt Browser pages early this week:
The free BOLT mobile browsing service will be discontinued. Unfortunately, the economic circumstances prevent us from running a free service going forward. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your loyalty and support.”The BOLT Team.”
This means that the major competition in Mobile Phone Browsers now lies between Opera Mini – Opera’s mobile phone browser – and UCweb – owned by a Chineese developer.
