Buhari appoints Prof Umar Garba Danbatta as new head of NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has gotten a new Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer as President Buhari, last week, unveiled Professor Umar Garba Danbatta as the new head of the commission.

The commission’s outgoing head, Dr. Eugene Ikemefuna Juwah, completed his five-year tenure last week.

Although he was eligible to run for another term, Biztech Africa reports that Juwah’s replacement could be unconnected with the ban on 35350 Campaign Fund Raising program which allowed people to donate money at N100/text message to Buhari’s campaign team when the latter was running for the office of the presidency back in April 2015.

The incoming CEO, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, was a lecturer in the faculty of Technology at the Bayero University Kano before his new appointment.
