Co-founder of PiggyVest, Odunayo Eweniyi, was recognized as the SME Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 during the annual Wealth and Society West Africa Awards ceremony held in Lagos on Thursday April 25th. Odunayo helped create PiggyVest alongside Joshua Chibueze and Somtochukwu Ifezue. She currently serves as the chief operations officer of the brand. PiggyVest itself is a smart online bank that helps users save money by automatically deducting a specified amount from their debit cards at specified intervals. The saved money can be accessed and withdrawn by customers anytime. “Nigerians are mostly tech-adverse,” according to Odunayo, “and so we try to convince them to trust more in tech; we are working a lot to make sure we can deliver on our promises so that our users can trust us.”
