South Africa has seen a host of Fibre To The Home (FTTH) services launched this year and these have all contributed to the overall development of the broadband service. With Telkom launching its own FTTH with the just-created OpenServe subsidiary network, Vodacom also has its own FTTH service which has been announced since the last month of the first quarter of the year 2015.
The March – announced FTTH service from Vodacom promises a speed of 20Mbps (Silver Package) for customers on the R799 monthly plan, 40Mbps (Gold Package) for R1,199 monthly and the R1,799 (Platinum Package) for a speed of 100Mbps. This plan doesn’t support just data as there are offerings for voice packages likewise. The various voice packages plans comes in prices of R129 (for 250 minutes monthly), R229 (for 500 minutes of voice monthly) and for the unlimited minutes monthly, a plan that costs R499.
