If you have played Danfo Reloaded series, Sambisa Assult and Jumpology; or if you are a diehard fan of the Clash of the Kingdoms, then you are probably well aware of the name ChopUp. However, the latest news from this favorite Nigerian game studio might give you a sad feeling as it announced a subscription based plan service for all of its games.
According to Zubair Abubakar, co-founder of ChopUp, users will now have to pay a certain amount of money to enjoy the developer’s games that used to be free. The subscription amount is N30 ($0.12) per week across all the apps.
Abubakar added that Chopup games will be available through MTN and Airtel app stores as well. The user will be prompted to pay for a game whenever they download from the store and there is going to the direct billing service from their airtime balance, powered by the mobile operators.
Questions are already flying about the decision by Chopup. Will Nigerians be able to keep up with the change or will the move backfire? Let’s find out in the next couple of months.
