Intex, a popular smartphone manufacturer from India, has partnered with Jolla to make use of its Sailfish OS to launch a series of smartphones based on this OS platform. Intex is known for coming up with cost-effective products and solutions. After tasting success with the smartphones based on Firefox OS, this tie-up with Jolla is seen as the next big step for this Indian company.
The first product that is going to come out of this collaboration is named Aquafish and it would be released in the month of November this year. The price of the smartphone would be anywhere between Rs. 10,000 and 15,000 and the phone is mainly intended for the market. However, there are plans to offer the sailfish-based smartphones to the Russian market too.
The smartphone would have a good number of interesting user-friendly features and specifications including 4g support, 720p HD display, 1GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 8GB internal memory among others. However, the main attraction of the phone would be the OS itself. The Sailfish OS would offer a far superior user interface and is said to be great for multitasking.
It is reported that this sailfish-based smartphone will be available for sale on Snapdeal.com, a popular Indian e-commerce website. However, there is no official news confirming the same. But, since Jolla and Snapdeal had signed an agreement for the promotion of the OS in the Indian market, it would not be wrong to assume that the smartphone may be a snapdeal exclusive.
