Adele is yet to drop her full album which has its release set for later November and it is already fetching in the acclaim she wants. Africa is not left out in this process as our very own South Africa-based mobile telecommunications giant, MTN, has secured exclusive rights to one of the singles on the British singer cum songwriter’s album.
The album, titled “25”, is set to be officially released on the 20th of November and MTN has already acquired the rights to “Hello”, a most anticipated single on the album as caller tunes. It should be noted that this would be the first time that Adele would actually allow a plan which would see her song used as a caller tune on any platform.
MTN has been much synonymous with the “Hello” greeting over years to the extent that the mobile telecoms giant has even coined its own catchphrase, “Y’ello”. The song, “Hello“, has already as a caller tune on the MTN network in three countries – South Africa, Nigeria and Uganda – and users can get the tune by simply dialing the short code *123*53#
The deal has been finalized in conjunction with Content Connect Africa and Just Music and confirmed by Larry Annets, the Sales and Marketing Executive for MTN in South Africa.
