Mobile Telecommunications Network, MTN, which has one of its branches in Cameroon (known as the MTN Cameroon) can’t seem to stop winning things, and they are not even slowing down. As if being the best Socially Responsible company in the whole of Cameroon and also being the leading telecommunications brand in the country isn’t enough, MTN Cameroon has gone on to win the ninth edition of MTN Group employees’ charitable programme which was themed “21 Days of Y’ello Care”.
The announcement of this win was done in the presence of representatives from the 22 other countries where MTN has set base. The “21 Days of Y’ello Care” charity programme is an avenue for MTN to, with its employees, give back to the society at large and help them in any area of their needs. This usually runs from the first of June to the 21st every year and launched in the year 2006, this year’s edition marked the ninth of its kind.
With “Investing In Education For All” being the mindset for this year’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care, some of the good that came out of the programme for the year 2015 and are worthy of mention are
•Construction of 08 classrooms and dormitory for CEFPAMAVOC in Douala and CJARC in Yaounde.
•Installation of 03 toy libraries for visually impaired children;
•Training over 50 teachers on the inclusion of ICTs in their teaching methods;
•Computerizing the management systems of secondary schools, with as pilot
•Sensitization of pygmies on the importance of education and distribution of school kits and didactic materials to this community
