MTN South Africa commences job cuts

Following the of former CEO Ahmad Farroukh earlier this month, the new management of MTN South Africa is rumored to be planning a huge job slash within the company.

Being one of Africa’s biggest telecoms service providers, MTN has been losing customers since more than 2,000 workers commenced on strike action two months ago, leaving most of their service posts unmanned.

An unnamed insider on Monday told Reuters via Business Report newspaper that MTN is planning to restructure the face of its work force by sacking some of or all the striking workers.

The report did not clarify how soon the pink slips will be served or whether MTN will replace these workers with new employees when the scheme is complete.
