Tecno Phantom 5 killer: KuliMart rolls out Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 at N44,000

In the height of the raging Internet debate on the whether the Tecno Phantom 5 is worth its price tag at 70,000 naira¬†($350) or not, popular e-commerce platform KuliMart has taken the stage to introduce the latest model of Xiaomi’s best-selling affordable phablet smartphone lineup, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.

The Redmi Note 2 is currently on sale in India and China but in Nigeria, Kulimart is offering the smartphone at 44,000 naira  which roughly translates to $210 using the current exchange rates.

“Xiaomi smartphones are built to be very exceptional,” said Michael Nwanator, chief executive at KuliMart.

“We except the Redmi Note 2 to bring about the ‘best affordable smartphone’ solution that Nigerians have been yearning for,” he added.

The handset will surely give the Tecno Phantom 5 a run for its money given that both handsets share virtually the same specs and that Xiaomi is a more widely recognized brand despite the company’s minimal presence in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
