Twitter substitutes Favorites’ Star feature for Hearts

Twitter is going through a process that is seeing a total revamp of the company and with the amount of changes we’re seeing these days, its hard to even keep up at all with them anymore. The new wave started with the announcement that the social platform is looking to increase the tweet count from 140 characters to a still unknown number, then followed the launch of the Twitter Moments which we must say, is a laudable improvement over the ordinary hashtag feature. Then and again, Twitter introduced the ad for Moments feature and now, they have come with yet another feature as Twitter replaces the Favorite (star) feature that we’ve been used to over years with the Love (Heart) symbol.

This means that we can no longer choose tweets to be favorites, but we can express our love for them.

The change, which was announced by the Project Manager of Twitter in person of Akarshan Kumar, is set to take effect over all the Twitter applications for Android, iOS, Windows 10, TweetDeck and the online platform,

The blog post through which the announcement was made reads

“We are changing our star icon for favorites to a heart and we’ll be calling them likes. We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers. You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite. The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.”
