Facebook-owned social network Whatsapp is banning users who installed a specially modified version of the chatting application known as GB Whatsapp.
Whatsapp says that privacy becomes a huge concern when users install and use non-official mods of their app. A temporary ban was slammed on accounts of users who have been using GB Whatsapp on Thursday. Users took to Twitter to complain about the ban.
This is not the first time Whatsapp banned GB Whatsapp users. Thousands of users were placed on a temporary account ban for using GB Whatsapp back in March.
According to an official statement from Whatsapp, users who fail to start using official Whatsapp app might face being “permanently banned from using WhatsApp.”
The statement further says:
If you don’t switch to the official app after being temporarily banned, your account might be permanently banned from using WhatsApp.
Unsupported apps, such as WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp, are altered versions of WhatsApp. These unofficial apps are developed by third parties and violate our Terms of Service. WhatsApp doesn’t support these third-party apps because we can’t validate their security practices.
