Yahoo upgrades Mail service, adds new features and tightens security

Yahoo Mail has now upgraded its web and mobile phone based applications (version 4.9.2 for Android) and we all know that with new updates comes new features. Yahoo Mail is a mail service and application that has been around for a while, helping to enable and ensure seamless transactions via the mailing services whilst also offering a lot of other side benefits.

The Yahoo subsidiary, on announcement of its new mail app upgrade, also announced the new security measures that they had put in place to ensure that no one logs into your account behind your back now, not even your trusted friends or partner who has your password.

Whether is it a quest for transformation or a need to establish better ease of use and access to its customers that warranted this, all we know is that this move would go a long way to curb the excesses of scammers as even without an internet connection, you can regulate login to your account.

The new feature simply allows you to connect your mobile phone number to your Yahoo account, and anytime a login attempt is discerned, Yahoo sends a Push message to your phone. From this push message, you can either decide to allow or deny the login, thereby controlling and gaining full control of your account. With the advent of mail scamming in Nigeria and other African countries through means locally dubbed “Yahoo Yahoo”, this would surely make more people trust their Yahoo accounts.

This is not all that was brought along with the revamp. Yahoo has also added support for email accounts such as Hotmail, AOL and Outlook. For now, GMail is absent.
